Republican Party in Illinois needs new grassroots, candidate says

In a recent press release, U.S. Republican Senate Candidate R. Cary Capparelli argues that the Republican Party needs new leadership. Capparelli is correct, and several GOP candidates have surfaced to help redefine the Republican effort in Illinois, including in and around Chicago, such as Liz Gorman running for the Cook County Board and Orland GOP Committee Person, and Nicki Conforti, who is challenging the ineffective Congressman Sean Casten. The Republican Party in Illinois has been a disaster, but it needs to be strong to act as a counter voice to Democrats in order to ensure accountability by all to the public.

PRESS RELEASE: Illinois has not elected a Republican United States Senator since 2010 (15 years) nor a Republican Governor since 2014 (11 years). At the Republican Candidate Forum hosted by the Republicans of Maine Township two days ago at the Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge, Republican senatorial candidate R. Cary Capparelli declared the party leaders have not given voters a ‘clear-cut’ choice.

“Republicans have failed to win statewide elections in Illinois because their policies have mirrored Democrat policies. The Democrats will win that battle every time,” said Capparelli.

The candidate added that most Republican voters in Illinois seek a strong conservative direction and need to elect more conventional candidates in its primaries to give all voters an intelligible alternative on the general election day.

“There is a need to give its voters an incentive to vote when it counts and that path is to not elect ‘establishment’ Republicans but to elect ‘grass root’ Republicans in the March, 2026, primary,” continued Capparelli.

Capparelli said he’s the only ‘real’ conservative in the U.S. Senate race that gives voters that choice and to provide proper representation for all citizens of Illinois.

Capparelli listed his priorities, in no particular order because ‘things change’, as follows:

    • To make and keep America strong economically, both domestically and internationally, that will positively affect all American families
    • To closely monitor the adversaries of American interests, namely the PRC and Russian Federation, of their expansion and influence
    • To maintain a strong military because a powerful defense is the best offense
    • To endlessly support our veterans
    • To make healthcare available and affordable for all Americans
    • To acknowledge mental health as a crisis globally
    • To fight and eliminate rampant crime
    • To fight illegal entry into our country and maintain our borders
    • To continue the ‘war on drugs
    • To uphold the Constitution of the United States of America

Capparelli holds a PhD in Geography, added that America needs to be respected more in the United Nations; particularly by its UN Security Council. And, noting Communism is banned in America, the rise of Socialism in America needs to be halted as Socialism and Communism share basic concepts.

Capparelli concluded, “As a U.S. Senator, I will seek solutions to these problems and all other complications facing America and Americans”.

Capparelli was endorsed by the Italian American Police Association of Illinois on Friday.

On behalf of the Italian American Police Association of Illinois, we are proud to endorse your candidacy for the United States Senate. Your clear recognition that recent national leadership has failed in its most important responsibilities reflects a seriousness of purpose that our members value. At a time when Illinois and the nation face profound economic, security, and public-safety challenges, your commitment to restoring strong, accountable leadership stands out.

Your priorities, including strengthening America’s economy, monitoring hostile foreign adversaries, maintaining a powerful national defense, fully supporting our veterans, expanding access to affordable healthcare, and acknowledging the urgent global mental health crisis, speak directly to issues that affect every community. We appreciate your dedication to reducing crime, securing our borders, continuing the fight against dangerous drugs, and steadfastly defending the Constitution. Your additional focus on strengthening America’s standing in the United Nations and confronting the rise of socialism demonstrates the breadth of your perspective and the depth of your commitment to preserving our nation’s core principles.

As a PhD and a lifelong public servant, your thoughtful approach to complex problems and your willingness to pursue real solutions align with our Association’s mission of promoting safety, stability, and integrity in public life. We are confident that your leadership in the United States Senate would reflect the values and priorities of hardworking Illinois families, and we proudly extend our full endorsement of your candidacy.
