Father’s Role Affirmed, Family Stability Preserved

By: Laura Reichel

For many dads, the letters DCFS bring more than just anxiety; they unleash a nightmare of fear, doubt, and the possibility of losing the person they cherish most.

This was the reality for a devoted dad who suddenly felt himself branded as dangerous and unfit.

Terrified of losing his son, dad immediately contacted the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd. for help.

The Leving legal team fought tirelessly to protect his family, his reputation, and his freedom—and they won.

Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case victory and more on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, September 13th on Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page on dadsrights.com. Listen to this radio show and keep hope alive by sharing this victory and connecting on Instagram @dadsrights.

This all began when a mandated reporter at school overheard dad’s young son mention that his parents sometimes argued and that dad owned a gun. Concerned, the reporter questioned the child and notified the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) of the matter, claiming the father may pose a danger to his son. Without delay, DCFS launched an investigation. While dad was out of the home, investigators interviewed his wife. She firmly denied any allegations, claiming that although they sometimes argue, her husband has never been abusive and had never harmed her or their son. As for the firearm, she made it clear—it was secured in a locked safe, far out of the child’s reach.

Despite the mother’s statements, DCFS persisted in pursuing an investigation against dad. Terrified of losing his son and possibly being jailed, dad called attorney Jeffery M. Leving for help in defending him against these dangerous allegations. Dad was assured that attorney Leving and his legal team would fight to protect him, his family and his freedom.

The Leving team wasted no time developing a tough, strategic litigation plan to protect this father and his family. They presented evidence and witnesses who testified in dad’s defense. They won. The DCFS investigation determined that the allegations of abuse and neglect were unfounded and closed the investigation.

This is an important victory for dad modified for publication that protected dad’s family, reputation, and freedom. The outcome was not just a legal victory, it was a reaffirmation of fairness, due process, and a father’s right to raise his child without fear of unfounded accusations. By shutting down these attacks, the Leving legal team safeguarded a family’s future, keeping the family together. This case stands as a reminder that when truth prevails and justice is fought for relentlessly, families can endure—and fathers can continue to play the irreplaceable role so deeply needed.

Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the President of the United States in recognition of 7,500 hours of service to this nation. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
