A father’s duty is to protect his children, regardless of the relationship he has with anyone else. It’s a responsibility that fathers take seriously, and this is especially true for this father.
Dad is a devoted father of a 6-year-old boy and has residential custody of his son. After their divorce was finalized, the mother’s visits to the little boy were sparse, with the child rarely seeing his mother.
Despite this, Dad encouraged his ex to have parenting time with their son the few times she did come to visit. Out of the blue, his ex stated that she wished to take their son back with her to her home, which she shared with her new boyfriend, whom Dad had never even met before. Dad quickly discovered that her new boyfriend was a reported predator – a registered sex offender!
Dad was terrified – he feared for his son’s safety. If Dad’s ex succeeded in taking their little boy from his father, the child could find himself in an extremely dangerous situation. The little boy would be living under the same roof as a reported predator, far away from his father and his father’s protection.
The risk to his son’s future and safety was too much for Dad. He immediately called attorney Jeffery Leving for help. Attorney Leving assured this terrified father that the Leving legal team would fight for him and his son. They did.
The Leving team immediately went to court to fight to protect this little boy. They argued about the danger in allowing the mother to take the child to live with a reported predator – a registered sex offender! The risk of the little boy becoming a victim of abuse was far too great.
The judge agreed with the Leving legal team’s arguments and ordered that the little boy remain with his father. The mother would only be allowed to see the child if Dad was present. The judge also granted Dad another victory by terminating dad’s child support, which he shouldn’t have ever been required to pay considering he was the primary caretaker of his son. The Leving team won for dad and his boy.
This is an important court victory, modified for publication, that helped safeguard this little boy and protect his Dad from an unfair court-ordered child support obligation. This boy is safe at home, far away from the clutches of this reported predator. Dad no longer fears for his son’s safety and is no longer burdened with an unfair court-ordered child support obligation.
