Court Victory: Grandson Safeguarded From Danger after Mother’s Tragic Death

By Jeffery M. Leving

Following the shooting death of his mother, a young boy was placed in the care of his uncle—what should have been a safe and stable arrangement.
Instead, it quickly became a reported source of fear for his grandfather.
He was alarmed to hear that the uncle had reportedly driven under the influence with the child in the car.
Desperate to protect his grandson from danger, he turned to me for help. We fought and we won.

I’ll be discussing this life-saving court victory on my weekly radio show, the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. CDT Saturday, August 1st on Power 92.3 FM. The show will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page at dadsrights.com. Tune in and share this victory by leaving a Google review in support of our fight for justice everywhere.
The grandfather came to us deeply concerned that his grandson was living in an unstable and dangerous environment. The reported incident involving alcohol and reckless driving was not just troubling—it was a clear indication that the child’s safety was at serious risk. He also reported that the child had been exposed to firearms, further escalating his fears. The grandfather knew that without immediate intervention, the consequences could be irreversible.
Our Client Care Specialist assured him that we would fight to protect his grandson. He retained and we fiercely litigated this important case to victory against all odds.
We acted without delay, bringing the matter before the court and presenting compelling evidence demonstrating that the uncle’s care placed the child in harm’s way. We made it clear this was not just a custody dispute—it was a matter of protecting a young boy from a reported dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. We fought to have him removed from that environment and placed somewhere safe. We won. The court ordered the child removed from the uncle’s custody.
This court victory modified for broadcast was more than a legal success—it was a life-saving outcome as I see it. Because this grandfather took action and trusted us, his grandson now has a chance for a future. Had he not acted when he did, the outcome could have been devastating.
Congratulations to everyone involved in securing this powerful and meaningful court victory. Our work made the difference when it mattered most.
