Right from the Middle: Return semi-conductor and chip-making industries to America

A little over a month ago, I wrote a column praising the President Biden administration’s awakening to the need for our Land of Liberty to once again lead the world in the development and production of computer chips, semi-conductors and chip-making equipment.

We founded the chip industry and developed it, and then sourced it out to other nations.

Our Land of Liberty and Fortress of Freedom lead the world in chip production starting in the late 1950s. But are share of the world’s chip production gradually slid to around 12% from around 37% in the 1990’s as nations in Asia provided incentives to move manufacturing to those nations.

In the world today Taiwan produces 22% of the total chips manufactured and more than 90% of the most advanced chips made.

Failing to realize that chips were the present and future for commercial and military leadership in the world. But now we are back in the game for leadership in his paramount industry.

Thanks to the steps taken by the President Biden administration a little over a month ago, and now the new moves by our Land of the Free and Home of the Brave puts us, that’s United States at the head of the race for chip superiority.

Under the leadership of the President Biden administration; Intel has broken ground in Ohio for two factories to make semi conductors.

Intel is investing $20 billion in these two factories. Micron Technology is investing $20 billion in a plant just outsider of Syracuse.

Taiwanese semi conductor manufacturing Company is investing $40 billion in a plant just outside of Phoenix. Across our land of the Pilgrim’s Pride 35 companies have pledge $ 200 billion for chip manufacturing.

This effort is because of the Biden industrial policy giving $76 billion in grants, tax credits and, other subsidies to encourage domestic chip production.

And President Biden and congress has said if more money is needed for America to regain leadership in this area it will be there. Chips and who leaders the world in their production will determine if freedom and democracy lead the world or will the world be ruled by a totalitarian nation.

Totalitarian means a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state, I Think we know what country that is.

My Betsy Ross Flag is flying high, my Try-corner hat is off, and my Trusty Old Colonial Musket is raised in salute to the Biden administration for their positive leadership in returning us to the leadership of the chip world.
