Right from the Middle: The China threat to Asia’s Democracy
By William O. Lipinski
Anyone that has read my columns in the past know that I have been a strong advocate of keeping a sharp eye on China.
They are a totalitarian country ruled by a Communist party with the goal of world domination.
First economically and then militarily. Thank God our Land of Liberty and Fortress of Freedom’s Government has finally awakened to this monumental challenge.
I applaud the Biden administration for the steps it has taken recently to stop building China up economically, thereby impeding their military buildup.
The Biden administration’s strong position on computer chips, Taiwan, and several other areas is a good start. Hopefully the Biden administration will be able to enlist other democratic governments around the world in this Crusade. It is a crusade that benefits all of mankind.
Japan has courageously joined the crusade to defend Freedom and Democracy by announcing it will spend 43 trillion yen currently around $322 billion on defense over the next five years, to deter China on it quest for world domination.
Japan is now joining South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippine Islands, and Australia in a defense buildup to deter Chinese aggression.
Of course the primary defense force in the area remains the United states of America.
These are some of the external factors being employed to deter China from its stated goals. All positive steps in the right direction.
China is also encountering some domestic issues that are not helping them reach their goals. Remember their goals, at the present time are to eliminate democracy and free enterprise around the world.
The Very strong. wide spread Covid protest, shocked the Communist Party considerably, and force them to abruptly changed their very severe lockdown policy in regards to the virus. The very radical abrupt change in policy, has now endangered millions and millions of Chinese.
From the policy of attempting to totally suppress the virus by locking down the population to total freedom of the population and with out an effective vaccine will be an absolute catastrophe, demonstrating to the Communist Party of China and the world that they do not control the Chinese people as much as everyone thought. Compounding this problem is the fact that China refuses to except affective vaccines from the West.
Some of the protesters even called for the removal of the president and elimination of the Communist Party, as shocking as that may be to the world.
Other negative effects of the lockdown policy were: China’s GDP fell from 8% to less than 3% in two years, wealthy Chinese are trying to flee the country as quickly as possible, youth unemployment has risen from 8% to 20%, the youth are by far the strongest area of the population against the government, and foreign companies are searching for alternative manufacturing countries.
It is now calculated by economist that America will continue to be the number one economic powerhouse of this planet well beyond 2040.
It is now believed US GDP in 2035 will be $41 trillion. China’s will be about $35 trillion. Economist who had forecast up to now that China would surpass the United States in GDP by 2034, now seriously question If China will ever be able to accomplish that goal.
Additional problems for the Communist Party in China are the policies of President XI Jinping’s and the world’s reaction too them, the US-China decoupling that prevents Chinese access to advanced technology becomes a extremely heavy burden on the Chinese economy, this decoupling is an response to China’s spying and theft of American intellectual properties and technologies.
I have always believed that a totalitarian government and capitalism could not coexist for very long.
When capitalism had the upper hand in China, the Chinese economy grow by leaps and bounds, now in the last five years the totalitarianism of the Chinese government has gain the upper hand threatening China’s further economic development.
It has already severely negatively impacted the Chinese economy.
Unless there’s a quick reversal in this policy the Chinese economy will continue too shrink. Our Land of the Pilgrims Pride and the rest of the free world must see this as an opportunity to convince China to accept democracy and free enterprise.
But let us never forget eternal vigilance is the price of democracy.
And if our Land of the Free and Home of the Brave can stay on its toes it can lead the world to greater freedom and prosperity, with the help of God.
