New Lenox offers free Disaster Preparedness Training to residents
20-Hour Basic Community Emergency Response Team Class offered free of charge to residents. Similar to programs in other communities including the Orland Fire Protection District.
The Village of New Lenox will be hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 20-Hour Basic Course starting on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
The Course is FREE and will be held on Thursday evenings (9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6 & 10/13) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the New Lenox Village Hall.
The Final Exercise, Graduation and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
All graduates will receive a CERT backpack containing various disaster preparedness supplies, CERT participant manual, and a certificate of completion.
The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their community and trains them in basic disaster response skills.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist during disasters when first responders are not immediately available to help.
