Cicero police secure arrest warrants for Chicago suspect in series of car jackings
Cicero Police said Tuesday (March 8, 2022) they have secured three Arrest Warrants for a suspect accused in a series of car jackings including the latest which occurred in the alley of 50th and Ogden Avenue on Saturday March 5, 12:15 PM.
The suspect is identified as Ricki Taylor, 33, from Chicago with last known address listed as 421 So. Homan Ave. Witnesses identified him as African American.
Taylor is suspected in four car jacking incidents, one which was attempted and unarmed, and three subsequent car jackings in which the vehicles were taken and the suspect used a firearm.
Cicero Police obtained surveillance video from a camera in the alley of the latest car jacking on March 5, 2022, which led to the suspect’s identification.
Cicero Police said Taylor is wanted in two prior car jackings and one attempted carjacking over the past three weeks.
The first attempted car jacking was on February 16 at Fuller’s Car Wash at 2912 S. Cicero Avenue. Taylor was unarmed at the time.
Two other car jackings were reported. One occurred 11 days later on February 27, also at Fuller’s Car Wash when the vehicle was taken from the driver at gunpoint. The third car jacking occurred on March 4 at the Walgreens Parking lot at 4100 W. Cermak at around 8:30 AM.
“We are cautioning the public about this suspect and serial car jacker,” said Cicero Police Chief Jerry Chlada Jr.
“He is armed and dangerous. We urge the public if they have any information on Ricki Taylor concerning his whereabouts to contact the Cicero Police at 708-652-2130.”
Chief Chlada said callers with information on the whereabouts of Ricki Taylor may request to keep their identities anonymous.
Chlada said the police have three separate arrest warrants for the suspect for the three car jackings and they are requesting a separate warrant for the attempted car jacking.
