Bridgeview Police searching for suspect in Hann Funeral Home shooting

A man attending a funeral in Bridgeview was shot on Wednesday night (Dec. 12, 2018) during a brawl that took place among members of rival street gangs. other he injured man and the shooter are at large. Polic ear asking for the public’s help to identify the shooter.

Bridgeview Police said Thursday they continue to search for a suspect involved in a shooting that took place on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 at the Hann Funeral Home, 8230 S Harlem Ave., in Bridgeview at around 8 pm. A funeral was taking place at the time when attendees at the funeral apparently got into a fight. The cause of the fight is not known.

Bridgeview Police said that several of the individuals involved in the fight were members of a Chicago regional street gang and during the fight, one of the gang members pulled out a gun and fired it one time striking another attendee.

The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn but fled from the hospital after he was treated.

Police are searching for the shooter and the victim. Many of the witnesses are associated with the gang or with family members and are reluctant to speak about the details or the identities of the suspect.

The victim is described as a male Hispanic in his early 20s. His injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Bridgeview police are investigating and are pursuing all leads. They have no information yet on the alleged shooter.

Bridgeview Police are asking if anyone has information about the shooting, they should contact the Bridgeview Police Department not he non-emergency number at 708-458-2131.

(If I get any more updates I will send them out immediately. Chances are nothing will be released until they have a suspect in custody.)
