Supporters gather for ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’s’

Supporters of all ages participated in the 2.2 mile leisurely walk

Hundreds turned out in memory of loved ones and friends for this weekend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s which was held at the 153rd Street Metra station in Orland Park.

Supporters of all ages participated in the 2.2 mile leisurely walk around Centennial Park fighting to end the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. — one without confirmed treatment or cure.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks neurons in the brain,
resulting in loss of memory, thinking, and language skills
as well as behavioral changes.

The morning event included music, entertainment and snacks.

Congressman Dan Lipinski made a visit and spoke to the crowd ensuring that he would continue to fight for funding in Washington to end this disease.

Collectively, participants had raised $150,515.00 as of
Sunday toward a goal this year of $185,000.00 according to the Illinois chapter / Orland Park.
