Sandoval wins major woman’s endorsement for County Board

City, county and state-wide elected officials join forces to elect more women. City Clerk Anna Valencia, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer and State Senator Toi Hutchinson Endorse Slate of Women for Cook County Board including Angela Sandoval, Donna Miller, and Charise Williams.

Heading into another powerful weekend of sisterhood and action, Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia, Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer and State Senator Toi Hutchinson announced their endorsement of three qualified women for Cook County Board: Donna Miller, Angela Sandoval and Charise Williams.

“We need women in leadership positions now more than ever,” said City Clerk Anna Valencia. “In order for policies to change for the better, we must invest in qualified women for the future of our city, our county and our community,” said City Clerk Anna Valencia.

“I’m now one of only two women on the County Board, a lower percentage than City Council, General Assembly and Congress. This matters because so much of what the County Board does — public health and safety — disproportionately affects women. Women need to be at the table when these decisions are made and I’m proud to endorse these three strong women and great candidates,” said Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer.

“People are marveling everywhere about the fact that last year we were marching and today women are RUNNING!” said State Senator, Toi Hutchinson.” Putting your name on a ballot and participating in the political process is one of the hardest things to do; it takes guts, passion and a real desire to want to make your community better. These three women are strong, qualified candidates who care about working on solutions for all of us across Cook County.”

Donna Miller, Cook County Commissioner, 6th District, has 25 years of professional healthcare experience and knows firsthand the many healthcare issues our county faces. Donna believes in Property Tax Fairness to keep families in their homes and to attract Businesses to the community. Donna is committed to building coalitions to get things done on behalf of her community in the Southland .

Angie Sandoval, Cook County Commissioner, 7th District, as a resident of Chicago’s Gage Park, Angie has focused her work empowering women and children, especially those of first and second-generation immigrant families. Her pledge to quality education and fair wages for her community shows her commitment to treat every family in her community as her own. If elected, Angie would be the very first Latina elected to the Cook County Board.

A single mom and lifelong resident of Chicago’s Southside, Charise has dedicated her life to serving her community and currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff of Civic Engagement for Illinois Treasurer, Michael Frerichs.
