Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas Endorses Richard Boykin for 7th Congressional District Seat
Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas is throwing her support behind former Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin in his quest to become the next US Congressman in the 7th District.
In her video announcement, Pappas points out that Boykin was one of her only allies while he served on the Cook County Board.
“He helped me get properties off the tax sale list, exemptions for people and he got rid of that weird soda pop tax, remember that?…I need him in Washington, DC and so do you.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Treasurer Maria Pappas. We have been friends and colleagues for many years. I respect and admire Maria because she stands up for people and gets things done. That’s why she is so popular with all Cook County residents. She serves the people, which is first and foremost with me as well,” Boykin said.

Boykin was the retiring Congressman Danny Davis’s chief of staff and legislative director from 1997-2006. Prior to that, he worked with Hon. Carol Moseley-Braun and Hon. Bobby Rush. He is a practicing attorney. The primary election day is Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
