Father Wins Custody After Son’s Disappearance and STD Diagnosis

A devoted father’s worst nightmare came true when his young son disappeared and upon the recovery of his son, was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease.
The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. fought hard for dad and won, securing the return of his son and justice for both dad and his child.

Dad reported that, without any notice to him, his ex-wife had moved into her boyfriend’s house in an unknown location with dad’s little boy and more. Dad made multiple requests to have his ex-wife advise him of where she and his son were residing, but she refused. He had no idea where his little boy was living. Furthermore, the mother’s actions reportedly violated the Court Ordered Parenting Plan.
Dad was determined not to give up for his son and contacted attorney Jeffery Leving for help to locate and protect his son.
Working quickly, the Leving team located dad’s son. However, when dad recovered his son he noticed troubling signs—poor hygiene and unusual bruising on the boy’s body. After bringing him to the immediate care center, DCFS was called, and an investigation was opened.
The Leving legal team immediately filed a Petition for an Emergency Order of Protection for dad’s little boy, which the Court granted. Then came the devastating news: dad’s little boy tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease. Dad was devastated. It was believed that the mother was the one who infected the little boy. The Leving team next filed an Emergency Motion to order a physical examination of the mother and to keep the child with dad.
In court, they passionately argued for the little boy’s safety, presenting compelling evidence to the judge. They won. The judge granted dad residential custody of his son.
This powerful court victory modified for this publication not only saved a young boy from feared unthinkable danger but also restored hope and justice in the face of betrayal. Dad and his son were reunited, and the boy was placed in the protective, loving care of his dad, who had fought so hard for him. Dad never gave up hope, and neither did Leving —serving as a powerful reminder that when justice is guided by unwavering hope and strong legal advocacy, a child can be brought safely home.
Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the President of the United States in recognition of 7,500 hours of service to this nation. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
