Leving team court victory protected dad from crushing debt
By Laura Reichel
A distraught father was horrified to learn that his ex was trying to saddle him with many thousands of dollars in her attorney’s fees—money he simply didn’t have, and that would have devastated him financially and more.
Desperate and overwhelmed, he turned to the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. for help in fighting this injustice.
The Leving team rose to the challenge, fought to protect him from crippling debt and won. The judge ruled in dad’s favor, denying the ex’s baseless petition and declaring the matter closed.

Dad’s troubles began with a hotly contested divorce and custody battle over his two young sons.
When the divorce and custody case concluded, dad thought it was all behind him, until he was blindsided by his ex’s petition for attorney’s fees against him.
His ex alleged that his filings were harassing and vexatious, and she demanded he pay a staggering amount in her legal fees.
Devastated, dad feared that this debt would not only bankrupt him but could ultimately threaten the precious time he had with his children.
He immediately called attorney Jeffery Leving for help. Attorney Leving assured him that the Leving legal team would fight to protect him and scheduled an emergency consultation.
The Leving team immediately went to court defending dad’s future. They presented compelling evidence refuting the ex’s accusations and demonstrated that she had the means to cover her own legal fees. Most importantly, they established that dad’s actions were legally justified, not harassing.
They won. The judge agreed, denied the petition and closed the case, lifting the immense burden from dad’s shoulders.
This hard-fought court victory, modified for publication, secured the stability of a father whose only concern is the well-being of his children. Thanks to this win, dad can continue on with his life, without the looming threat of financial ruin and loss of his parenting time and children.
Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the President of the United States in recognition of 7,500 hours of service to this nation. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
