Orland Fire District meeting helps Seniors cope with winter
Orland Park — The Orland Fire Protection District will host a “Coffee & Conversation” meeting this week to help seniors adjust to the winter months and in December discuss their insurance needs.
The program, “Seasonal Survival Guide for the Seniors” will be led by retired Lieutenant Chris Smith on Wednesday November 16, 2022 beginning from 10 AM until 12 noon at the Fire District’s headquarters at 9790 W. 151st Street in Orland Park.
“Coffee & Conversations” are co-hosted with the Orland Fire Protection District Senior Advisory Council which brings seniors together to discuss issues, safety and emergency practices.
And, it is also co-sponsored by Aishling Care Academy which educates families and caregivers about the importance of home care and provides Certified Nursing Assistants to help.
“I am very excited that we have been able to resume the ‘Coffee & Conversation’ gatherings at the Fire District with our seniors and community,” Fire Chief Michael Schofield said.
“It’s so important to provide professional guidance to the community about emergency practices, and for me to hear from our seniors and our residents.”
The December 7 “Coffee & Conversation” will feature a discussion led by Healthcare Solutions specialist Anna Minkina who will discuss Insurance Healthcare Solutions.
The Orland Fire Protection District is ranked with having the highest “save rate” in the country, 65 percent, when it comes to responding cardiac arrest or heart attacks. The average “save rate” is between 10-15 percent.
Additionally, The Orland Fire Protection District has been recognized since 2017 by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) as having the highest Class 1 evaluation rating which assesses the response effectiveness of fire departments around the country.
“We continue to be responsive to the needs of our community and delivery the most effective emergency response in the country,” Schofield said.
“I credit the training and professionalism of our firefighters and paramedics and our entire staff.”
