Orland Park Village Trustee Daniel Calandriello Will Not Seek Another Term

Trustee Thanks Supporters and Provides Thoughts about Village’s Future

After more than 7 years of public service on the Orland Park Village Board of Trustees, Dan Calandriello announced today that he will not run for re-election.

In a message to supporters, Calandriello stated, “…after much thought, I have decided not to run for Trustee or Mayor in this April’s election.  I appreciate your messages of support regarding my possible candidacy.  With my growing family and law practice, I cannot provide the Village with the time and commitment it deserves.  Serving effectively as a Trustee is a full-time job and at this time my most important job is to be a supporting and loving husband and father.”

Calandriello further reflected that he was proud of the Village’s accomplishments during his tenure as Trustee; especially the village’s strong financial position, newly established long-term pillars of economic development and improvements in infrastructure including roads and parks.

Calandriello reported that he has never voted to increase property taxes, helping to keep Orland Park property tax portion less than seven cents per property tax dollar.  He pointed out that as a team, the board was able to lower the debt at the same time and keep Orland Park’s bond ratings high.

Highlighting some of the developments in the Village that he is most proud of, Calandriello wrote, “The Villages’ long-term efforts have come to fruition with the new University of Chicago facility, Palos/Loyola Medical Camp expansion, and Von Maur opening in Orland Square Mall.  The Village has been working tirelessly towards all of these developments for over six years.  We were able to make investments in our infrastructure, including our neighborhood roads and parks.  Additionally, the new Orland Park Nature Center will be around for generations for our children’s children to enjoy.  Of course, all these positive developments would not have been possible without maintaining a safe community with a world class, award winning police department.”

Calandriello made a departing wish; he hopes the new Village Board will work together in a collaborative manner, not viewing things as personal wins or losses.

Calandriello hopes the Board engages in more discussions with its residents and less dictation.  He believes that good government means leaders communicating with their residents with respect and transparency.

Calandriello concluded his message wishing the Village Board the best of luck in the future and thanking his supporters for their unwavering support.
