Important News: Sun-Times disclosure slams Giannoulias over campaign donor
Secretary State Alexi Giannoulis has put himself in the spotlight, not by weighing a race for higher office, even before he completes the one he was just elected to serve in. But because of the huge collections of funds he is receiving for his election campaign fund, supposedly in the millions. And when your election ego is so great, it invites intense scrutiny by the news media.
Here’s the Chicago Sun-Times headline and lead summary paragraph from the story that ran this week by reporter Robert Herguth — I knew Herguth’s father who was a great reporter.
“Ex-strip club owner with ties to reputed mob figures a big campaign donor to Alexi Giannoulias
“Perry Mandera, his family and companies have contributed more than $100,000 to Giannoulias’ campaign fund over the last few years as he contemplates a run for Chicago mayor. Mandera owned a strip club for years on the Near North Side that was involved in a long-running legal battle with City Hall — and that employed two men with alleged organized crime connections.”

Just what Chicago needs, more controversy.
