Lipinski announces grants for two suburban Fire Districts

Congressman Dan Lipinski Announces $143,182 Grant for Orland Fire Protection District, and $861,280 Grant for Burbank Fire Department

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) announced that the Orland Fire Protection District has been awarded $143,182 andBurbank Fire Department has been awarded $861,280, both the through the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The Orland Fire grant will be used to help purchase new portable radios. The Burbank grant will be used to help purchase new portable radio units and equipment training.

“Federal funding is needed to meet the increased demands being placed on our nation’s first responders,” said Rep. Lipinski. “They put their lives on the line for us each and every day, so I want to do all that I can to fully support their important mission and safety. This federal assistance [to the OFPD] will provide equipment that will help these men and women do the best possible job.”

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program provides needed federal funds to fire departments and emergency medical service organizations in order to improve the response capabilities of our nation’s first responders and the safety of our communities.

“Our first responders play a critical role in keeping our communities safe,” Rep. Lipinski said. “These much-needed new radios [for the Burbank FD] will help keep these brave men and women safe, while also helping them to better serve the residents and businesses of Burbank and the surrounding area.”
