Mahnoor Ahmad runs for DuPage County Board seat

Mahnoor Ahmad, who challenged ineffective Congressman Sean Casten in 2024 for the Democratic nomination, announced this week that she has filed for the office of the DuPage County Board seat in the 2nd District.
Ahmad has a long history of public service and working in the community in DuPage County for all communities.
In her announcement this week, Ahmad said she would champion the needs of families, seniors, young people and those in need when elected to the DuPage County Board seat in District 2.
“I’m running for DuPage County Board District 2 to build a community rooted in care, opportunity, and fairness. This isn’t just a campaign, it’s a movement powered by people like you,” Ahmad told supporters on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025.

“When I first ran for Congress, that fight for accountability and transparency and, most importantly, justice has not ended. It’s only gotten closer to home. Because the truth is that the fight for the people doesn’t stop in Washington. It starts right here in our neighborhoods, our schools, our parks, and most importantly, our boardrooms,” Ahmad continued.
“Our work is public health, and every single day I see how one decision, whether it’s the delay of the court or a delayed budget or really the failure to make one, can reflect and cause turmoil in entire communities. This summer, the campaign turned to the first human case of West Nile virus. One mosquito, one bite, and one person. But that is all it takes. And it’s a reminder that there’s a fine line between safety and crisis, and that line is drawn by true, real leadership.”
Ahmad said the county needs to do more to address the issue of mental health, “especially when it comes to our kids.”

“Right now, here in DuPage County, we’re losing too many young people to suicide. It’s not statistics,” Ahmad said.
“It’s a warning that if the kid is sitting in a classroom, you know, walking through the hallways with the right smile and waving you goodbye on the bus, but inside they’re fighting struggles they cannot put into words, and no one can see. And according to our own DuPage County Department of Health, suicide is now the second leading cause of death for children from ages 10 to 14. That is, the children we are discussing here. That should break every part of this room, and it should wake up every level of government. Because when a young person takes their own life, it’s not a family’s tragedy.”

Ahmad said DuPage County needs leadership that is honest and has foresight.
“We can maintain a system that keeps our neighborhoods from driving people’s insurance rates upwards, not skyrocketing, and keeping their property valuable. So, because my government works, you see, flood, and their workers have access, they will stay and they will hire and they will eventually grow,” Ahmad said.
“That is how you build a thriving DuPage, one that is rooted in fairness, stability, and opportunity for each and every one of you. So I’m running to make the government work for you again, to be responsive to, to be ready for you, and rooted in happiness, because real leadership does not wait for permission.”

Ahmad added, “Families are being priced out of their neighborhoods. Seniors are left without the resources to age with dignity. Mental health care is treated like an afterthought. Meanwhile, big developers and well-connected insiders get a seat at the table, and the rest of us are told to wait our turn.”
Ahmad built her career on tackling systems that put profits before people, expanding healthcare access, cutting waste, and building community power.
“As a public health director and advocate, I’ve worked every day to make sure families get the care, dignity, and fairness they deserve. I know what it means to fight for working people because I’ve done it my entire career. This campaign is people-powered — no corporate PACs, no backroom deals. Just neighbors like me and you, standing up for each other,” she said.
Mahnoor Ahmad was born in Balochistan, Pakistan. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2013 and a graduate degree from Purdue University in 2016.
