Wrapped in Honor – Orland Park Police Department Salutes Officer Returning from Service
The Orland Park native returned from deployment, police vehicle unveiled in his honor
Officer Jordan Legris, who just returned from a tour of duty in Somalia, received a hero’s welcome on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, when the Orland Park Police Department unveiled a 2025 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor wrapped in his honor.
Mayor Jim Dodge, Trustees Dina Lawrence and Joanna Liotine Leafblad, Village Clerk Mary Ryan Norwell, Police Chief Eric Rossi, fellow officers and Village staff gathered with members of Legris’ family for the surprise ceremony.
The wrap pays homage to all of the nation’s armed forces.
Legris, 38, grew up in Orland Park and is a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School. He joined the department in 2014 after serving as a community service officer.
In September 2024, he deployed to Somalia as a major in the Illinois Army National Guard, enlisted in 2008 with commissioned in 2010. Major Legris deployed with the 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry out of Kewanee, and trained at Fort Benning, Ga.
Mayor Dodge, a veteran of the Illinois Army National Guard, added, “It’s an honor to welcome Jordan back home and to celebrate the impressive work he did for our country, so far from here. His dedication to protecting others, both at home and abroad, reflects the spirit of this community. We’re incredibly proud to have him back in Orland Park.”
After the unveiling, Legris thanked family, friends and colleagues for their support. Guests were invited to view the wrapped vehicle and congratulate him on his safe return.
“Officer Legris’s bravery and commitment exemplify the values of this department and the community we serve,” Chief Rossi said. “This vehicle wrap is just a small gesture compared to his selfless service overseas, but we hope it will serve as a daily reminder of the sacrifices our officers make in defense of freedom and public safety.”
