Congresswoman and Illinois native Lucy McBath endorse Robin Kelly for U.S. Senate during Gun Violence Prevention Month
Congresswoman Lucy McBath (D-GA) today announced her endorsement of Robin Kelly for U.S. Senate. Both gun violence prevention champions, McBath and Kelly have led the nation in enacting common sense gun safety measures, standing up to the gun lobby, and protecting communities from senseless gun violence.
A native of Joliet, McBath has stood with Kelly in the halls of Congress and on the streets of local communities to declare an end to gun violence.
McBath was instrumental in passing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Law and helped procure funding to study gun violence as a public health epidemic.
The Congresswoman now serves as Vice Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.
“It’s hard to think of a stronger advocate for safe communities than Congresswoman Lucy McBath,” Kelly said.
“I’m lucky to know Lucy, see her dedication to the gun violence prevention movement first-hand and stand with her to pass lifesaving legislation. I am truly honored to have her endorsement.”
“Robin Kelly works tirelessly for Illinois families every day in Congress and is a fierce advocate for safer communities,” McBath said.
“Robin is battle-tested, having faced serious uphill challenges and won, and I know she is ready to lead in the U.S. Senate. I know Robin has the type of experience and leadership needed to move our country forward. I am incredibly proud to endorse my friend and colleague Robin Kelly.”
In Congress, Kelly and McBath have worked together on myriad issues. Most recently, they joined together to urge the Trump administration to restore critical gun violence prevention funding for organizations across the country.
McBath’s endorsement adds to other endorsements from the Congressional Black Caucus and nearly 70 leaders of the LGBTQIA+ community in endorsing Robin Kelly for the U.S. Senate.
