Out-of-state divorced dad feared for his kids’ safety, won court order to protect them

By Laura Reichel

A concerned divorced father was horrified to discover that his children were living in a reported dangerous home in life-threatening conditions. Fearing for his children’s safety, this dad immediately called attorney Jeffery M. Leving for help in protecting his children from harm.

The Leving legal team fought for them and won, allowing dad to remove his children from danger and into his home – to safety.

Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, April 12th on Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page on dadsrights.com.

Dad has a daughter and a son, ages sixteen and twelve. After the divorce, he and his ex shared parenting time and the kids lived with their mother in Illinois while dad lived in Arizona.

Despite the long distance, dad continued his parenting time with his children and worked hard to stay involved in his children’s lives. However, dad soon became aware that his children’s living situation was deteriorating. According to court documents, the mother neglected one child’s need for medical care and reportedly abandoned the children, leaving them with her new boyfriend, someone whom dad had never met, while she disappeared for days at a time.

Terrified, dad immediately called attorney Jeffery Leving for help. He worried his children were being harmed, and that the longer they stayed in the mother’s home, the worse it would get. He loves his children, wants the best for them, and could offer them a safe, stable home. The Leving legal team fought for them and won.

The Leving team investigated and discovered a mountain of evidence to support dad’s claims. They went to court and fiercely fought to protect dad’s children. They won. The judge immediately entered an order allowing dad to remove his children from their mother’s home, bring his children to Arizona and live with him, and gave dad sole decision-making authority regarding education, health care, extracurricular activities and religion.

This is a big-time court victory, modified for publication, which allows a father to safeguard his children. There are circumstances that call for the children to be moved to a safe situation in another state, with their protective father. This father did the right thing and sought help when he feared his children were in danger. The children are safe at home with their father and out of a dangerous situation. They’ll all sleep better at night.

Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the President of the United States. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
