New study reveals which are the most selected lottery numbers

The lottery numbers most likely to win you millions

  • Number 10 is the luckiest, being picked 211 times on average
  • Number 65 has been picked the least, with an average frequency of just 25
  • Lottery numbers for the five most popular US lotteries were analyzed to determine the ranking

New research has discovered the lottery numbers that are drawn the most, with number 10 taking the top spot.

Experts at Lottery Geeks, a news publication for anything related to Lottery and iLotto, analyzed the numbers that have appeared in all previous draws across Powerball, Mega Millions, Cash4Life, Lotto America and Lucky for Life. They determined each number’s average frequency across all five lotteries to determine which ones are the luckiest.

The luckiest number is 10, with an average frequency of 211 over the five US lotteries, appearing in a total of 1,055 draws. It is the third most common number in Mega Millions, being called 261 times in that lottery alone.

Second is the number 28, with an average frequency of 209. It has been called a total of 1,043 times and has appeared 324 times in Powerball alone.

Next on the list is the number 16, with an average frequency of 208. It is the fifth most common number in Powerball, appearing in 325 draws. Over all five lotteries, it has been called 1,040 times.

The number 35 is fourth, with an average frequency of 207.8. Overall, it has been drawn 1,039 times. It is also the fourth most common number in Powerball, being called 326 times.

Fifth is the number 22, with an average frequency of 207.6. It is the sixth most common number in Powerball, appearing 324 times. Across all five lotteries, it has come up in 1,038 draws.

Common lottery tactics

Many people have their own tactics that they believe will increase their chances of securing a jackpot. It is common for players to use a meaningful date, and while this tactic limits your number choices to those between one and 31, eight of the luckiest numbers are within this range; so, with that being said, your wedding anniversary or your child’s birthday could potentially win you millions.

Another popular technique among players is to use the same numbers every time. Some people have a particular sequence of numbers that they use every time they play, hoping that it will one day land them a jackpot. However, you could use the same sequence of numbers in every draw for the rest of your life and never win a cent, but this list of lucky numbers might just win you millions.

A spokesperson from Lottery Geeks has commented:

“It’s not surprising that so many people take their chances with participating in the lottery looking at the huge jackpots. Lottery numbers are chosen using a random algorithm, which is used to make the numbers unpredictable. However, it is interesting to see such a big difference in frequencies of certain numbers.

“It is clear from the list that numbers below 31 appear more than others. This is due to a large proportion of players using meaningful dates as their numbers, which means that if the numbers drawn are over 31, there are likely to be less winners.”

This information was provided by Lottery Geeks, a news publication for anything related to Lottery and iLotto.

Methodology:

Data from https://www.lottonumbers.com/cash-4-life/statistics was analyzed to determine the ranking.
