Daughter threatened saved by father in legal fight, Leving says

A loving father who feared his daughter was being threatened physically turned to me for help — and we delivered for him.

This is the case I’ll be talking about on my weekly radio show, the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, September 30 on Power 92.3 FM.

The father of a 12-year-old girl who was rightfully upset and concerned when he reported to us she might be in danger because his ex-wife’s neighbor had threatened her. The neighbor was the ex-wife’s relative, which further complicated the matter.

The parents had been divorced for some time. The father told us that during the mother’s parenting time, the mother’s neighbor began threatening his daughter with physical violence.

The father addressed this situation with the mother and demanded that she keep the daughter away from the mother’s neighbor. However, when the mother refused, he came to me for help.

The father wants to ensure that his daughter is safe and away from a toxic environment.

Our team appeared in court and told the judge what was happening. We told the judge that it was bad for both the father and daughter.

The judge agreed. We won! The judge entered an emergency order of protection against the neighbor, which ordered that he stay away from our client’s daughter, and placed restrictions on the mother’s parenting time with the child.

This is an important victory, modified for broadcast, which ensures that this little girl will be safe from threats and physical harm.

Congratulations to dad for not giving up hope.

On another note, The Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood, which I chair by appointment of the governor, will present its annual symposium Saturday, Sept. 30, noon-2 p.m. in Galesburg, IL at the Public Library. It’s free and open to the public. It’d be great to see you there!
