Vallas announces Democratic Strategist Joe Trippi & Pollster Mark Mellman to join campaign for Chicago Mayor
Chicago Mayoral candidate Paul Vallas announces the hiring of Joe Trippi as Chief Strategist/Media Advisor and Mark Mellman and The Mellman Group for polling.
“Residents and businesses across our city are desperate for a better, safer Chicago. Our fight is not going to be easy, but the stakes are too high. That is why I am bringing the best talent to my campaign, so we can make Chicago the best city that Chicagoans deserve,” stated Paul Vallas.
Trippi has played an instrumental role in dozens of victorious Democratic races across the nation.
In 2017, Trippi was the Chief Strategist and Media Advisor for Democrat Doug Jones’s historic victory for the U.S. Senate, electing a Democrat to the Senate from Alabama for the first time in nearly 25 years.
He also guided California Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown’s successful 2010 gubernatorial campaign against Meg Whitman, despite being outspent on television 4-to-1.
Trippi is credited with helping engineer the groundbreaking use of the Internet to build financial and grassroots support for Vermont Gov. Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign.
Trippi is also a former Pritzker Fellow at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics.
In an interview with Crain’s Chicago Business, Trippi called Vallas a “political progressive who’s trying to find ways to get the city working again” and who “thinks deeply about problems and lays out solutions.”
