Precautions taken in Lyons

Some attend meeting via teleconference

By Steve Metsch

Lyons Finance Director Dan Denys – a mainstay at the village board meeting and the finance committee meeting twice monthly – did not attend either on April 7.

He is in fine health. He is being cautious.

“Dan is in self-quarantine at his home. He did some traveling a while back and he wants to be extra cautions, but he is available (via social networking),” Mayor Christopher Getty said told the board.

Lyons Village Trustee James Veselsky took no precautions at the April 7 village board meeting. Mayor Christopher Getty said finance director Dan Denys was self-quarantined after a trip to New York City, and Trustee Pat Alonzi attended by phone from home due to health concerns. Denys’ son lives in New York City – which has been hard hit by the coronavirus – and he decided to return home about 10 days ago, Getty said.

After Denys drove to New York City to pick up his son, he elected to place himself into self-quarantine for 14 days as a precaution, Getty said.

Denys, who had traveled overseas earlier, is in self-quarantine a second time this year, Getty said. He did the same after that trip, Getty said.

Village Trustee Patricia Alonzi, who has had some health issues in recent years, attended the finance and village board meetings on April 7.
