Saluting Our Veterans: Elmhurst native trains in Guam
Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class J.D. Byers, right, from Mansfield, Texas, lowers Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Nathan Swartz, from Elmhurst, Ill., to a Mark VI patrol boat attached to Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) 2 from an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter attached to the “Island Knights” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 during a casualty evacuation training evolution between CRS-2 and HSC-25.
CRS-2 is assigned to Costal Riverine Group 1, Det. Guam and is capable of conducting maritime security operations across the full spectrum of naval, joint and combined operations. HSC-25 provides a multi-mission rotary wing capability for units in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations and maintains a Guam-based 24-hour search-and-rescue and medical evacuation capability, directly supporting U.S. Coast Guard and Joint Region Marianas.
