Chicago Cultural Alliance offers wide range of ethnic programs

As usual, we have a ton of events for you to enjoy all around Chicago. Our online event listing is chock full of events hand picked just for you, including exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, workshops, and more!

It’s been hot out, so we’re taking a quick break from summer festival season to bring you a variety of indoors events. If you’re into socio-political commentary, delicious food and drink, or air conditioning, here are a couple of fresh new exhibits opening this Friday:

Opening Friday, July 13 at 5 pm: The National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, in partnership with Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, hosts critically-acclaimed exhibit Circus of Absence. Exploring socio-political situations and Puerto Rican life, Circus of the Absence makes statements on life as a colony, shortages of political leadership, migrant movement, food scarcity, and much more in this unique collaborative program.
And opening Friday, July 13 at 7 pm: Explore the history of German Chicago, deliciously, with new permanent exhibit Brewers, Bakers, and Bratwurst at DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. This exhibit features artifacts from the famous Chicago Brauhaus, which closed last winter after 52 years of business. Also, don’t miss a Friday, July 27 cooking class on how to make sausage, German style.
