Leving Team Challenged the Narrative and Protected Client’s Future
By Laura Reichel
A panicked Chicago man was terrified about his future. He was in the middle of a tough divorce and he feared a narrative was being built to financially destroy him, one that portrayed his wife as being unable to function and incapable of supporting herself.
This appeared to be an effort to shield financial information from the court and push for judgment that could possibly destroy his future.
This Chicago man turned to Attorney Jeffery M. Leving for help. The Leving team fought for him, challenged the narrative and won.
Attorney Jeffery M. Leving will talk about this important court victory on his weekly radio show, the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9–10 a.m. CDT Saturday, July 11th on Power 92.3 FM.
The show will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page at dadsrights.com. Tune in and share this victory by leaving a Google review providing hope to those seeking protection in the legal system.
The Leving litigation team assured this Chicago man that they would fight for him, and they did. They immediately built a strategy to confront these claims head-on with investigative support.
This case involved a highly contested and emotionally charged divorce. The opposing side presented a witness who testified that the wife reportedly suffered from severe emotional and functional limitations that prevented her from managing her daily responsibilities and maintaining consistent employment. If left unchallenged, these claims could pose a serious threat to the Leving client’s financial stability and future. From the outset, the focus was clear to the Leving team: test the narrative, examine the foundation of the allegations harmful to the client, and bring forward the truth.
Through Leving’s careful and strategic cross-examination, it became clear to the Leving team that these opinions were based largely on self-reported information, without meaningful independent verification. As testimony continued, the certainty behind those claims began to weaken.
The Leving team presented evidence to the court showing the opposing party has a more active and capable lifestyle than what had been reported. As additional testimony unfolded, inconsistencies seemed to emerge in the opposing party’s testimony. Statements made in court did not appear to fully align with the prior representations made by the opposing side, raising important questions about the credibility and reliability of their witness’ testimony.
The Leving team shifted the narrative. They won. This court victory modified for publication represents a meaningful step forward for this Chicago man. It reflects what happens when preparation meets persistence, and when unsupported claims are met with careful, strategic advocacy.
Matrimonial Attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from the President of the United States in recognition of his 7,500 hours of service to this great nation. Leving co-authored the foundational Illinois joint custody law and has dedicated his career to safeguarding children and reuniting them with their fathers.
