Leving team wins two court victories, reuniting father and daughters

By Laura Reichel

The bond between a father and his children is a powerful and special bond. Unfortunately, there are times when this special bond is threatened by others who want to destroy it. This was the case for a terrified father and his two young girls.

Dad and his ten-year-old and twelve-year-old daughters had caring and loving father-daughter relationships. However, out of the blue, the mother denied dad parenting time with his daughters. She went so far as petitioning the court for, and obtaining, an Emergency Order of Protection against dad.

Chicago matrimonial attorney and Litigation Director Arthur Kallow of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this difficult case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, November 2ndon Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page on dadsrights.com

Dad and the mother, who resided in counties distant from each other, were never married. After the couple broke up, dad and the mother had an informal agreement for parenting time for dad. Everything was going well until dad began dating again. After learning that dad had a new girlfriend, his ex began restricting dad’s informal parenting time. She even accused dad of being a danger to his own daughters.

Soon, the ex-girlfriend refused to allow dad to see his daughters at all. Then, he found out that his ex, with no notice to him, had petitioned for, and obtained, an Emergency Order of Protection from a court, claiming he was a danger to the young girls.

The Emergency Order of Protection not only prevented dad from seeing his daughters, but it also put his job at risk. If dad even tried to see his daughters, he risked losing his children, his job, and even his liberty. Terrified, dad called the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. for help. The Leving legal team assured dad that they would fight for him and his daughters, and they did. They fought hard for him, and they won.

The law firm’s legal team immediately went to court to defend and fight for this father and his children. They argued that contrary to what the mother said, their client was a loving and involved father. He was a caring father whose main priority was always the health and safety of his daughters. The judge agreed with the Leving legal team’s arguments and ordered the Emergency Order of Protection vacated. Plus, the judge entered an order granting the father significant parenting time, ensuring dad and his daughters time to be together without interference from anyone.

This court victory, modified for broadcast, was a battle worth fighting and crucial to keeping this loving father and his little girls together. Not only was dad finally able to see his children, but he now has the security of a court ordered parenting time schedule. Additionally, he no longer has the crippling fear of losing both his children and his job. He can enjoy spending time with his daughters without fear of his ex trying to take his children away or losing his job and possibly facing jail time if he tries to get into contact with his own daughters.

Attorney and Litigation Director Arthur S. Kallow
