Orland Hill house fire Friday night, no injuries
The Orland Fire Protection District (OFPD) responded to a report of a house fire on the 9100 block of 169th place in Orland Hills on the evening of March 18, 2022.
The 911 call was from the homeowner who reported a fire in a back bedroom of the home.
Orland Fire companies arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire venting out of a rear upstairs window from the home.
The homeowners were located and reported that everyone had exited the house safely.
Companies arriving on the fire scene attacked the fire with two pre-connect hose lines and began a search and rescue to verify that that no one was in the home.
Fire companies made a quick attack and extinguished the fire quickly. Fire crews were able to keep the fire confined to the room of origin. There was some smoke throughout the upstairs of the home.
Multiple fire crews from the Orland Fire District arrived on the scene and assisted with fire control, search and rescue, and overhaul of the structure. A full still alarm was called to provide additional manpower and equipment to the scene and to back fill Orland stations.
A preliminary investigation showed the fire started in the upstairs rear bedroom of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
The home is currently uninhabitable, but homeowners were able to stay with family members.
Other departments providing coverage and manpower included Palos Fire , Tinley Park Fire, Crestwood Fire, Homer and Northwest Homer Fire Districts as well as change companies.
