New name, new signage

Bridgeview approves contracts for signs at stadium

By Steve Metsch

The Bridgeview Village Board has approved plans for new signage at its soccer stadium.

Formerly named Toyota Park, the stadium is now named SeatGeek Stadium. And the SeatGeek logo – a drawing of an empty seat above the words – will be seen all over the stadium.

At its Feb. 6 meeting, the village board approved two plans that will result in new signage in and throughout the stadium that is entering its 11th year.

The board acted on recommendations from its RFP committee.

“The committee did a good job. The first bid has to do with the stage and the archway. The lowest, which is recommended, came in at $40,251 versus $109,995,” Trustee Mike Pticek said.

Pravin Clau was the low bidder and will install SeatGeek Stadium signs over the stage inside the stadium, and the arch that faces Harlem Avenue. Signs3 was the high bidder.

Pticek was pinch-hitting as president pro-tem as Mayor Steve Landek was in Springfield with senator duties.

“On the second package for the general signing, it was recommended we take the bid for $129,995, the lowest of the bids. The highest bid was $483,000. I don’t know where they’re coming from,” Pticek said.

Ironically, the high bidder for the first package, Signs3, was the low bidder for the second package, and will be installing general signage throughout the stadium.

In other business, Trustee James Cecott introduced a resolution that has Bridgeview indemnifying the Illinois Department of Transportation for work on state roads in the village.

The village’s insurance will cover any accidents that may happen under the state’s watch.

“That puts the state off the hook for any work they do and puts the responsibility on us. And we’re fully insured, so there’s no problem there,” Cecott said.

The board renewed an auditing agreement with G.W. & Associates.

The board approved a re-subdivision and zoning variation for property located at 7810 W. 73rd St., and 7214-18 S. 78th Ave.

The board also officially swore in Keith Grzadziel as the newest lieutenant in the fire department.

The board had unanimously approved his promotion at its previous meeting in January. Numerous firefighters from Bridgeview and nearby communities attended to show their support, as did numerous friends and relatives.
