Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez Endorses Richard Boykin for 7th Congressional District Seat
On Tuesday, Feb. 4th, 2026, 15th Ward Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez announced his endorsement of former Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin for the 7th Congressional District seat at a press conference in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
“I have known and worked with Richard for many years. He was a Cook County Commissioner who stood up for us, his constituents, when they tried to pass the ridiculous sugar tax. We would have had to pay one cent per ounce for sodas, juices, Gatorade – any drink with sugar! Those pennies add up quickly for working families. He has always stood for what was right, even when it wasn’t politically expedient. Richard is an independent thinker, a fighter and a courageous problem solver who will do right by the 7th district,” Lopez said.
“Richard is the best and only candidate I can firmly endorse in this race. I know his experience in Washington, his commonsense solutions and his ‘people first’ attitude are just what we need to move the 7th District forward.”
“Richard championed livability & affordability before they were buzzwords. I know he will work to lower costs, create jobs and make streets safer on the South AND West sides. Richard is the only candidate with comprehensive and strategic plans for the 7th district. Please vote for my friend, Richard Boykin, number 39 on the ballot.”
