Leving reminisces about one of his most emotional parental successes

Dads’ Rights Attorney Jeffery M. Leving said one of his most memorable legal cases was restoring the relationship between a disabled father and his daughter.

“Every year around Christmas I think about one of my most emotional cases – a victory that turned a heart-rending situation into a heart-warming one,” Leving said noting he will discuss the case on the “Dads’ Rights Legal Hour” Saturday at 9 AM on Power 92.3 FM radio.

“A single father was permanently disabled – paralyzed from the waist down as the victim of a horrific shooting. Following years of hard work and rehabilitation, he turned his life around. However, despite making significant physical strides, he was still prevented from seeing his daughter,” Leving said.

Leving said that the father “had nearly given up hope” of spending time with his daughter until he reached out and asked for help.

“He had never given up loving her. He and his child’s mother had split up years prior, and although he had always paid child support, his daughter’s mother refused to let him see his child and thwarted his daughter’s efforts to contact him too,” Leving explained.

Leving said that the father decided to take action to restore his rights and reached out to his law firm.

“He finally took action seeking to reunite with his daughter and I worked on the case, determined to secure this disabled man’s parental rights in court,” Leving said.

“This was a case that demanded meticulous preparation and tough litigation. The judge awarded this loving father, for the first time ever, Christmas with his daughter.”

Leving said he was moved when he saw the tearful father embrace his daughter and receive court ordered permission to spend Christmas with her.

“When I saw the tears in his eyes and I felt the joy in his heart, realizing that he would spend Christmas for the first time with his little girl, I knew something special had been accomplished for this father and his daughter,” Leving said.

“This victory, modified for broadcast, is the best Christmas present of all. A dream came true and a wonderful thing was accomplished.”

Jeffery M. Leving is founder and president of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd., and is an advocate for the rights of fathers.
