SouthSide Pitch just opened up the applications for our virtual shark-tank style pitch competition, South Side Pitch, so South Side businesses with a track record of serving customers can now apply. As you know, positive stories about the South Side are often overlooked. We want to help change that by using this competition to highlight some of the most incredible entrepreneurs and businesses that operate in the South Side. On November 5th, finalists will pitch their business virtually in front of 200+ Chicagoans and a panel of judges to compete for prizes up to $8,000. This is an excellent opportunity to support businesses that are struggling right now because of COVID-19 and to change the narrative that the South Side is not business-friendly.
Our applications are open right now until August 24th (Extended to Sept. 2, 2020).

The Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship just launched the applications for the 7th Annual South Side Pitch competition. South Side Pitch is a shark-tank style pitch competition that showcases amazing businesses in the South Side of Chicago. This year, they will be highlighting established businesses in the South Side that have a proven history of adding value to an individual’s life, a community, or an industry.
Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their business in front of a virtual crowd of 200+ Chicagoans and a panel of judges. This is an excellent opportunity to win some cash prizes, receive advice from expert pitching coaches, and further promote your business. The virtual format this year will mean the pitch video(s) you produce can be easily shared with a wide range of Chicagoans. In addition to the standard pitch prizes, the public will also have the chance to vote online for their favorite business during the semi-final and final rounds. The winner of both public voting rounds will be rewarded.
