Orland home fire on Beacon Tuesday, May 12th
The Orland Fire District responded to the 143 block of Beacon in the Old Orland Historic District for a reported structure fire on Tuesday, May 12.
Upon arrival, Battalion 6 found a two-story wood frame building with smoke coming from the rear of the structure.
The alarm was upgraded to a still alarm, and Orland Companies made an effective and quick attack, which prevented extensive damage to the historic building.
Crews overhauled the building, searching for hidden fire in the walls.
An investigation concluded the fire was electrical, the result of a heating and air conditioning contractor who was working on the building.
Fire damage was confined to exterior walls and smoke was found within the building.
Numerous fire companies from Orland were on the scene during the incident with mutual aid companies providing station coverage. The building was turned over to the building owner on the scene.
