Cicero Police charge suspect with impersonating a police officer
Suspect stopped vehicle and conducted field sobriety test on victim
On January 7, 2018 at approximately 2:40 AM, suspect/offender Donato Valdez, 28, drove behind a victim’s vehicle and used an unknown flashing light to stop vehicle. The suspect pulled the victim’s car over as it was leaving a restaurant parking lot near 29th and Cicero Avenue.
Offender Valdez, a resident of Cicero, approached victims wearing a vest with a badge and identified himself as a correction officer. Offender Valdez had victim exit the vehicle at which time he conducted a field sobriety test on victim.
Valdez attempted to get victim into his vehicle, but victim refused. Valdez advised victim he would let victim off with a warning. Victim filed a police report with the Cicero Police Department later in the morning and identified Valdez.
Offender Valdez was later arrested and formally charged with the following, Attempted Kidnapping, False Impersonation of a Peace Officer, and two counts of Unlawful Restraint.
Offender Valdez is also a registered Sex Offender and is currently up to date with his registration.
Cicero police are also asking members of the public if they may have been stopped and accosted by the suspect. If they were, please contact the Cicero Police immediately at 708-652-2130.
