How does your city rank for Hamburger consumption?

Postmates is offering free hamburgers to celebrate National Hamburger Day for downloading their App and ordering on Memorial Day. But you can still make your own burgers and change this dismal ranking. What’s your favorite topping? And which fast food hamburger chain is ranked best in America?

By Staff Writers

Hamburgers don’t rank very high as a leading sandwich choice in Chicago, according to a recently released new survey. Chicago’s low Hamburger consumption ranking is probably because the Midwest city is best known for Pizza and Beef sandwiches.

But who eats Beef Sandwiches during the Memorial Day weekend? No one. Hamburger lovers need to work harder in the Midwest to increase their rankings, especially since this weekend marks National Hamburger Day.

In fact, National Hamburger Day is Sunday May 28, I’m and NationalToday.com & Postmates released their annual “Hamburger Index”—which recently ranked Chicago the #24 most burger-loving U.S. city and is rewarding 10,000 Chicago residents with free burgers all day to celebrate.

They also released data on what toppings are most popular and how fast food burger chains rank in popularity.

To get the beef on America’s burger-eating habits, Postmates America’s most popular universal delivery app—partnered with the data scientists at NationalToday.com to rank cities across the U.S. based on overall preference for hamburgers over other foods.

The best Hamburgers are sold in Seattle, Washington. How can that be people in Chicago and Illinois?

Here is the NationalToday.com/Postmates Hamburger Index:

The hamburger is a classic staple of western culture. Historically, it’s most likely that the first hamburger sandwich first appeared in the 19th or early 20th centuries, but there is much controversy over its origin. Over the years, the hamburger has risen as a culinary icon in America. Burger joints, takeaway food outlets and all-night-eateries serve them up in their millions – with cheese, salad, pickles, bacon and sauces. Why not celebrate National Hamburger Day by making hamburgers your own way on May 28th?

To encourage even more Chicago residents to enjoy this American classic on Sunday, Postmates is delivering free burgers to the first 10,000 Chicago dwellers who download Postmates and order on May 28.

1. Download the Postmates app by Click here.

2. Add any burger to your cart from your favorite local or chain restaurant

3. Use code BURGERLOVE to get it for free
