Augustana College announces new board president
Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois on Tuesday announced the appointment of Dr. Andrea Talentino as its ninth president beginning July 1.
The Augustana College Board of Trustees President John Murabito said, “We welcomed Dr. Talentino to campus for a celebration today, and I know she looks forward to seeing you when she begins her tenure here on July 1.”
Dr. Talentino comes to Augustana from Nazareth College, Rochester, N.Y., where she is provost, according to a statement released by the college.
Dr. Talentino stood out in a very large field of excellent candidates as an innovator, a scholar, teacher and mentor for students, and an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.
That is why the Augustana Board of Trustees unanimously approved the search committee’s recommendation of Dr. Talentino, Murabito said.

Why Augustana? “Augustana’s mission and vision reflect what I care about. In my work I’ve focused on creating an inclusive, holistic, challenging, integrated student experience that offers a real transformational opportunity.”
Proudest achievement: Creating the Institute of Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Society and its degree programs at Nazareth College. “I think it’s very important for the world and for our nation to think about the ethical application of technology.”
A core goal: “Better and more creative experiential opportunities for students. I’m a big believer in putting students at the center of shaping their experience… Show students how to integrate their experiences so they end up at a point they never imagined they would.”
