Chicago Fire soccer makes changes

Chicago Fire soccer made several announcements involving players recently. Here is an updated on what they are:

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that the Club has loaned midfielder Mo Adams to USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC. The Fire retains the right to recall Adams at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.

Adams, 22, was originally selected by the Fire as the No. 10 overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft from Syracuse University. In his rookie season with the Fire, he made 15 appearances in regular season action. During those 15 appearances, the midfielder recorded 10 regular season starts in his debut season in MLS, including a career high seven consecutive starts from April 21-May 26.

Adams is the second Chicago Fire player to join Memphis 901 FC on loan this season. Forward Elliot Collier, who was loaned to Memphis 901 FC on March 7, scored the club’s first USL Championship goal in a 1-1 draw against Loudoun United FC on March 16.

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club also announced recently that the Club has waived defender Nicolas Hasler.

Hasler, 27, was originally acquired by the Fire from Toronto FC on July 20, 2018. Since joining the Men in Red, he has made 13 appearances (nine starts) in league play, including three appearances (one start) during the 2019 MLS campaign.

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club also announced recently that defender Raheem Edwards has been placed on the Disabled List after being diagnosed with a second degree Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) sprain.

Edwards, who has made one appearance for the Fire in 2019, is expected to be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks.

The Fire’s next league match will take place on Saturday, April 6 against Toronto FC at BMO Field. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. CT, the match against Toronto FC will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and transmitted locally on Univision Radio 93.5 Latino Mix.
