Orland Fire hosts annual holiday Toy Drive for needy families/children

The Orland Fire Protection District is hosting its annual Toy Drive for needy families and children.

The Toy drive collections are located at all 6 of the OFPD Fire Stations and the Fire Administration Building, where toy donations can be dropped off.

The OFPD Toy Drive will continue through Jan. 5, 2026 and is being held in conjunction with the Toy Box Connection, a children’s non-profit located in the south suburbs of Chicago.

Toy Box Connection’s mission is simple yet powerful:  to brighten a child’s life with a gift, a book, or a memorable day of fun.  Many children go without these small joys, and with the help of our community, we can change that. Toy Box Connection serves as the bridge between families and businesses who have new or gently used toys and books to donate, and the children who need them the most.

“All toy donations are greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts!  Together, we are one big community of love, lifting spirits of children and families every chance we get, and sharing every resource we can to brighten their lives!” said Michelle Maxia, Toy Box Connection owner.

New, unwrapped toys are needed for children of all ages, Maxia said.

Teenagers are sometimes overlooked during the holiday season, so items geared toward them are especially appreciated.  Consider donating DVDs, video games, board games, gaming accessories, chargers, headphones, sports equipment, books, self-care items, or gift cards.
