Orland Fire Protection District now accepting applications for position of firefighter/paramedic

Orland Fire Protection District, IL – The Orland Fire Protection District is accepting applications from the public for the position of firefighter/paramedic.

Individuals who are between 21 and 35 years of age can apply, with certain minimum required qualifications.

The starting salary for new firefighters is $80,947 per year with a five-year salary at $125,513 a year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision, and a health savings account, plus an employee and employer contribution to pension and 457 Plan, plus a retirement health funding plan.

Applicants must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) at the time of conditional employment offer, provide proof of a valid high school diploma or evidence of a G.E.D. equivalent, and have a valid driver’s license.

Candidates must also take a Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) and show proof of completion, which must be valid at the time of a possible conditional employment offer.

Applicants have one year to establish residency within 65 miles beyond the OFPD District’s boundaries (which include Orland Park, unincorporated Orland Park, and Orland Hills.)

Candidates must also attend a mandatory orientation meeting and written examination that will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Doors open at 8:30 AM.

Bring a photo ID (diver’s license, state ID, military ID) and a #2 pencil to sign in.

Testing will be administered at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave, Orland Park.

The application deadline is Monday, October. 20, 2025 at 4 PM.
