Four Arab Muslim women murdered in domestic violence crime Sunday

Police in Tinley Park, Illinois on Sunday night Jan. 21, 2024 identified four women who were murdered in their home in what is described as a “domestic violence” crime. The identities of the women were released Sunday night.

A suspect has been taken into custody but was not yet identified by police.

The murders took place in a home a home in the 7400 block of W. 173^rd Place and was reported to police around 11:30 am Sunday.

The victims were identified as Majeda Kassem, 53, and her daughters Halema Kassem, 25; Hanan Kassem, 24; and Zahia Kassem, 25.

Tinley Park Police arrived at the home shortly before 11:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a man.

After arriving at the scene, police found the women had been shot to death and took a man into custody in relation to the shooting. Police also recovered the gun used in the shooting at the home.

The crime scene remains under investigation.
