Lockport enlistee serving in Pacific Naval Partnership
Steelworker Constructionman Joseph Synowiec, a Lockport, Ill. native, is participating in Pacific Partnership, the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission in the Indo-Pacific region.
As a member of the Pacific Partnership 2019 (PP19) team, Synowiec is one of more than 500 U.S. service members, volunteers and partner nation personnel
taking part in a variety of projects including medical training, veterinary services, engineering projects, disaster response scenarios, and a variety of community outreach engagements.
Pacific Partnership’s mission is to work collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities and foster new and enduring friendships across the Indo-Pacific region.
“Pacific Partnership is the perfect type of mission for my first deployment, because it gives me the feeling that I am actually making an impact on the world by doing something bigger than myself,” said Synowiec. “Building this library and multipurpose room in Thailand for school children is a way that I get to give back to the community while also being given the chance to learn different techniques from the Royal Thai Armed Forces”
