Orland Firefighters extinguish townhome fire Saturday, resident slightly injured
Orland Park, IL – The Orland Fire Protection District responded to a home fire on the 9100 Block of Greencastle Lane on Saturday afternoon, March 7, 2026, hampered by numerous obstructions officials referred to as “possible hoarding.”
One resident was treated for minor injuries.
Firefighters with Battalion 6 arrived at 1:43 PM to a fire call at the two-story, four-unit townhome with no immediate evidence of fire displayed from the townhome complex.
However, Firefighters and Orland Park Police quickly reported, after an immediate property search, a basement fire involving the end unit of the townhouse complex.

All occupants were immediately ushered out of the attached townhouse properties and firefighters launched an offensive strategy.
A hose-line was deployed to attack the fire through the front door, but they immediately faced mounds of obstacles in the passageway of the home.
Interior fire crews reported what they believed was heavy hoarding conditions in the unit, which obstructed the passageway to the basement. Multiple crews were needed to clear debris in order to extinguish the fire.
One homeowner was treated for a minor head injury but declined transport to the hospital. There were no reports of injuries to fire or police personnel.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and yet to be determined. The homeowner is temporarily displaced. Orland Fire was assisted at the scene by Tinley Fire and Palos Fire.
Mutual aid fire departments also provided station coverage while Orland Fire crews were committed to the scene.
