Orland Fire Protection District, IL – A firefighter was slightly injured with dehydration while battling a fire reported in a townhouse building at the 13900 block of Berkhansted Court in Orland Park, just before midnight on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.
The firefighter was treated at Palos Hospital, where he was released early this morning in good condition.
The residents of the apartment were not home, and all other residents in the neighboring and attached townhomes safely exited their buildings. None of the civilian residents were injured.
The fire was reported at 11 PM on Monday.

Firefighters could see light smoke coming from the side of the structure, an attached row of townhomes.
The fire caused some damage to a neighboring attached townhouse unit.
Engine 5 made entry on the alpha side where they encountered a lot of heat and fire at the front door, which got up into the attic space.
Crews cleared the units and extinguished the fire. The fire was contained mostly to the one apartment unit with some burnt rafters in the attic of the neighboring unit.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
