President Preckwinkle Cuts Ribbon at Enhanced Sand Ridge Campus
WHAT: Cook County Board and Forest Preserves of Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle joins Forest Preserves General Superintendent Arnold Randall, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Colleen Callahan, and local elected officials and project partners to celebrate the enhanced Sand Ridge Campus.
Clustered together in one square mile of southeast Cook County, the Forest Preserves operates Sand Ridge Nature Center, Camp Shabbona Woods, Green Lake and Green Lake Family Aquatic Center.
The new Sand Ridge Campus includes new indoor and outdoor interpretive exhibits highlighting the ecology and cultural history of the community, a landscape art feature, updated wayfinding signage, ecological restoration projects, new trails, an expanded nature play area, new accessible fishing area, and more.
Approximately $1.6 million has been invested in making these enhancements in southeast Cook County.
