Morrison hosts re-election fundraiser Oct. 18
Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison of the 17th County District is hosting a fundraiser on Oct. 18, 2018 at Gatto’s Italian Restaurant, 8801 W. 143rd Street in Orland Park. The fundraiser tickets are $50 each and can be purchased by visiting www.ElectSeanMorrison.com. The fundraiser begins at 6 pm.
Morrison has championed the interests of taxpayers and led the fight to block the repressive one cent per ounce sales tax on sweetened drinks and soda pop imposed by Chicago focused Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. The tax increased the price of a bottle of soda pop by 20 cents and mainly targeted residents living in the suburbs of Chicago. Preckwinkle a former Chicago ward Alderman and Machine Boss continues to advocate for higher property taxes, and is the primary funder for Morrison’s challenger. Preckwinkle has vowed to defeat every suburban member of the Cook County Board who opposed her soda pop tax, which was repealed within months of being approved in a repeal fight led by Morrison. Morrison is at the top of Preckwinkle’s hit-list.
Make no bones about it, although Morrison has a Democratic Party challenger on the Nov. 6, 2018 ballot, the real contest is between Preckwinkle and her campaign to impose higher taxes on suburban homeowners, or Morrison, the only thing standing between Preckwinkle and suburban property owners.
Preckwinkle has already announced her intention to run for Chicago Mayor to consolidate her powers but hopes to install a friendly Cook County Board that would serve her Chicago-driven interests.
