Fall for Rockford Illinois Festival Sept. 21

Rediscover Rockford’s best tastes, sights and sounds as you walk through downtown’s historic River District.

With more than a dozen restaurants selling their signature menu items and free entertainment on one stage, we encourage you to reimagine Rockford. We invite you to fall in love with the city at northern Illinois’ premier outdoor food and music festival.

There is no entry fee. The River District Association simply wishes to provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience all that downtown has to offer in the fall, and in the same token, build community pride by giving everyone a Taste of Rockford: its food, music and culture.

The event is being held on Sunday, Sept. 22nd, 2019, with registration beginning at 2:30 pm. Thr actual program will be held from 3 PM until 6 PM at the St. Michaels Parish church, 14327 Highland Ave., in Orland Park.
There is no fee to attend, but a non-perishable food item to donate to “Respond Now” will be greatly appreciated by the organizers.
Chicago’s Southwest region is home to one of the largest populations of Palestinian Americans, Arab Americans who are Muslim and Christian. The Muslim community has several Mosques including the Prayer Center in Orland Park, and the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, while the Christian Arab community is dispersed throughout the region with several churches including St. George Church in Cicero, and St. Mary’s Church in Palos Heights.
Oftentimes, many Christian Arabs are disengaged from the interfaith dialogues.

Quad Cities BalloonFest Sept. 27-29

Red, yellow and orange-hued leaves aren’t the only colors to view in Western Illinois’ skies this fall.

At East Moline’s annual Quad Cities Balloon Fest, a full array of hot air balloons take off throughout the weekend and glow high above the town after dark.

Admission is free to the event and food vendors are available. $10 wristbands per child can be purchased for the children’s area. Tethered balloon rides are $15, and you must be 3 feet tall to take a tethered balloon ride. Gates open at 4 p.m. and balloon launch is at 5:15 p.m. Tethered balloon rides begin after the launch, and the Balloon Glow takes place between 6:45 and 7:15 p.m. Please note, full balloon rides are not offered during the event and all activities are weather dependent.
