Cicero dedicates soccer field in honor of local coach

The Town of Cicero was proud to commemorate a Heritage Sign to recognize the contributions of soccer coach Laureano Robles at 19th and Laramie at the Soccer Park.

Robles spent more than 25 years training young people in soccer and sports.

The dedication was held on Monday Sept. 25 and included town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias and Trustee Victor Garcia, who served as the commemoration emcees, and Trustees Bob Porod, Dennis Raleigh and Larry Banks.

Robles was also joined by his family, friends, soccer players, and community leaders.

Laureano Robles

In honor of Laureano Robles, founder of the Soccer Club Tigres de Cicero, who dedicated more than 15 years to coaching children of all ages in the Sport of Soccer beginning in 2001.

Robles is the recipient of the prestigious “Balon de Oro” Award under the Category Siente tu Liga on July 9, 2016 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California for his leadership.

Recognized by the Mexican Soccer Association, FIFA, Robles is a distinguished citizen of Cicero who has made our community proud.
